Small Town Woes – OK, it’s the start of a new year and I’m starting to feel like an island here in a small town far away for Nashville. I wonder if there are other songwriters in the local area feeling the same way. It’s an interesting business. It’s like an ebb and flow of connecting with others, but yet everyone is making their own way on their own path. The excitement is when your path crosses with someone else’s path, even if just for a moment. There is so much to learn from other writers and I hope I bring something to the table for someone, someday.
As a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association I’ll admit that I get a little jealous when I read about all the places to connect musically. Sometimes I ponder how I’m ever going to “make it” living so far away from the music hub, but then I get scared and stop thinking about it. There is just no room in my dream for such doubt. So in the spirit of that, I’m making two new goals for this year: one, to experience Nashville and two, to find or create a songwriters networking group here locally. Wish me luck!
